The Purpose

The purpose of the SELF-Ex™ Method to Address Bullying and Bullies Effectively workshop is to equip participants with 16-tools and techniques to address bullying and prevent abusive behaviors. By leveling out the power dynamic and resolving underlying issues, you may even be able to turn a bully into a buddy.

The Problem

Bullying is a prevalent problem. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, 20% of students reported being bullied and many incidents go unreported. Considering the gap between what is documented and reality, the numbers must be even higher than reported.

The Program Outline

This workshop enables participants to develop a personalized action plan and equips them with practical tools and techniques relevant to their situation. Participants learn to assess the situation based on severity, risk, resources, and personality traits.

The workshop engages participants to:

  • Discover the root cause of bullying
  • Understand the impact of bullying on bullies and victims
  • Identify differences between bullying and conflict
  • Correct faulty beliefs to assert boundaries
  • Present your solutions to bullying and bullies
  • Practice various techniques to address bullying
  • Construct a personalized action plan to address bullying
  • Present your commitments to address bullying

Participant Learning Objectives

Through this workshop students acquire tools and techniques to address insults, rumors, false accusations, harassment, pushing, physical altercations, damage to personal belongings, and other hurtful behaviors.  In addition, participants will learn how to discern between innocent and intentional behaviors that harm others. The tools and techniques range from cautious to more forceful methods that ensure the victim is acting in good faith, to give the aggressor an opportunity to repair the harm caused.
